Kyle Crichton is an Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker, editor, college professor, and post-production supervisor. With a lifelong passion for storytelling, Kyle is committed crafting compelling, emotionally resonant narratives.
Currently, Kyle is editing a feature documentary about the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, exploring its 50-year evolution from a local gathering into a legendary event that bridges musical generations and genres. The film captures the spirit of the artists, fans, and community that have helped shape Telluride into a cultural institution.
Most recently, Kyle edited and served as post-production supervisor on Sabbath Queen, directed by Sandi DuBowski and executive produced by Darren Aronofsky. The film spans two decades, chronicling the journey of Amichai Lau-Lavie—from rebellious drag performer to queer father and ordained activist rabbi—redefining Judaism for a new era. Sabbath Queen premiered at the Tribeca Festival, screened at DC/DOX, and continues its run on the festival circuit.
Kyle served as consulting editor for the short documentary film Coming Home, co-directed by Alex Showerman and Katie Lozancich. The film captured the Most Inspiring award at the No Man's Land Film Festival in Denver and was selected to feature at the prestigious Mountain Film in Telluride. He also edited the documentary Angel Dose, directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Sami Khan. The film was selected for Mountain Film in Telluride and later aired on WHYY PBS Philadelphia, showcasing Kyle's skill in crafting compelling narratives for broadcast audiences. Kyle has also contributed to the post-production of films such as Going Nowhere, The Last Out, Unschooled, RATS, and others. Continuously expanding his skill set, Kyle thrives on exploring fresh perspectives and tackling projects that challenge and enrich his filmmaking expertise.
